Three years ago I was diagnosed with chronic liver disease. At the time my doctors projected that I would need a full liver transplant in 7 to 10 years. I have not let this challenge stand in my way but instead I have met it head on and dared it to affect me. Because of my future prognosis I have become an extremely active proponent for organ and tissue donation.

Through this live altering event I became more involved in helping raise money for organ and tissue donation, as well as other diseases that affect others. It now seems that I'm always raising money for some cause that I've come in contact with. Through my running I'm hoping to be able to make a difference in the world around me. I have helped raise money for the following causes...

Organ and tissue donation awareness.

Breast cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Like others afflicted with a serious and/or chronic disease, I cannot hide from the inevitable. But I can run, and with your support, together we can all make a difference.

So please join me, and let's get active and...

MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Ever wonder what it is like being a Soldier in the United States Army? What about a Sailor in the United States Navy? Ever wonder what it's like being in the military? Let me tell you the good, the bad, and everything in between. I have over 14 years of military service, on both the U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams and as a Construction Supervisor in the Washington Army National Guard. I have both served on active duty and in the reserves, amassing over 11 years of active service. And I enjoy it, and all it has to offer, immensely.

Inside these pages you will be able to catch a glimps of what it truly means to be a member of our armed forces. I promice to show you the good, the bad, and the wonderful! All from an unbiased, non-recruiter point of view. Inside you'll find:

  • blogs from Soldiers who are currently deployed.
  • pictures and videos on the 'Shock and Awe' pages.
  • out about the benefits, and hardships, of military life.
  • an area which will allow you to ask questions of real Soldiers.
  • and I even hope to provide a spouses point of view also.

They say you have to be strong to be in the Army. Here you'll find out what it means to be...

Army Strong!

One of my deepest loves is traveling. Since I get around quite a bit traveling with the military and on personal business I decided to start tracking where I go, where I stay, and reviewing it all. My wife's and my personal favorite is Las Vegas! We travel there a few times a year to get out of the cold and escape life for a bit. Understand one thing though, I am just an avarage guy, I stay at the avarage places, and eat at the avarage restaurants/buffets, so don't mistake me for some high priced, snobby reviewer.I go where you would go. I just give my honest opinions on where I've stayed, where I've eaten, and what I've done. All from the avarage guy point of view!

Just so you know how avarage I am... My wife and I eat at this one particular restaurant EVERY time we are there. We love the food, the drinks, and most of all... the atmosphere! Which restaurant are we talking about? None other than...

JIMMY BUFFET'S MARGARITAVILLE!!!!

If your planning a trip to Las Vegas, or possibly Constanta, Romainia, you'll regret not looking inside!

I have been writing poetry off and on since I was in high school. I have never published it anywhere before, but have now decided to share it with the world. I enjoy a form of poetry I have developed that I call 'Stream of Concious' poetry. It may look like a jumbled mess of words, but every word goes with the one before it, and the one after it. In this stream of words and ideas one can follow the themes and gain an understanding of my inner most being.

BE FOREWARNED!!!

Some are as light and dreamy as the mist rising from a moist, morning meadow, others are as dark and horrific as facing one's own immortality. Please feel free to puruse the...

Broken Pieces of my Mind

I have always been a runner. I think that some people are just born to run. I can't even fathom how many miles I have run in my lifetime. Last year I ran my first marathon. I did it in part to raise money for organ donation awareness programs associated with the foundation I volunteer with. We were successful in raising just over $3000, and I completed the marathon. But I couldn't walk for a week!

This year I wanted to build upon last years endeavor. Unfortunately, the fundraiser didn't take off in its second year like I hoped it would and again we raised just over $3000. This years marathon however, was nothing like last years. I wasn't able to train as much as I did last year so I went into my second marathon looking only to finish. I did have better support and started off at a slower pace this year, and tried to enjoy the experience a little more than last years. Amazingly, I shaved off almost 30 minutes off my time, felt much better afterwards, and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I am now hooked!

Follow along with me as I work towards my new goal, fifty marathons in fifty years! At 38 years old that means I have to run at least 4 a year to reach that mark! Follow along and we'll watch the miles go by together!

I GOTTA RUN...

One of the questions I like to ask people is who they would wish to bring back to life for one hour to talk to. My only rules are that the person has to be real and have actually lived. I have heard answers that have ranged from 'my grandmother' to 'Mother Theresa' and from 'John Lennon' to 'George Washngton'. The answer I have heard the most though is 'Jesus Christ'.

I would like to tell you that I learn a lot about the person depending on their answer, but truthfully I have never done any research to base any conclusions from. Well, that will soon change. As I build this website and learn the particulars on how webpages, HTML, and other geeky stuff works I will be asking for individuals for their opinions along with some demographic information. I am wondering if there is any similarities between the people who choose Jesus, or if people with very similar demographic information might rather choose someone like Hitler (yes I have heard that answer given as well!).

Check back often for this area of the site to be built. It is my intention that it will be user friendly, interactive, and most of all... facinating.

Until then, ask yourself...

WHO WOULD IT BE?
