Great Loves

It is said that
great loves will one day have
to part and I have to ask myself why
if love is the greatest gift of all must
we treat it so insignificantly as
one might pass a bumbling soul who
has no abode yet possesses
all the happiness we so desperately
crave yet toss aside to be
neglected and taken for granted until
they yearn for what one time filled our
spirit placed us in situations we
desire but do not understand the
impact they have on broken hearts still
dripping with the ghastly glow from
a full and mockfull moon thrown
down upon the dreary landscape that used
to be bright with the love
and smiles of that one soul you
know intimately just by gazing
through its bright blue windows that
beckon you to give everything
you have and all that is not yours to
give because you know that in your
lifetime you will never find
another that touches you so
sweetly and delicately as the petals that
were strewn about her feet so that she
may glide across the earth only
to turn and leave taking with her
the future you saw before you that was never
meant to be because in
the end all great loves must
someday part.
